If you haven’t played Monkey Go! yet, what are you doing with your life? This game is a masterclass in world-building, storytelling, and fluid combat. The open world is absolutely breathtaking, with towering mountains, dense forests, and sprawling cities that feel alive. The soundtrack alone is enough to make you reconsider every life choice that led you to this point—it's that good.
The combat is tight, responsive, and endlessly satisfying. Each weapon has a real sense of weight, making every swing, spell, or arrow feel impactful. The enemy AI is surprisingly intelligent, flanking you when you least expect it, forcing you to strategize instead of mindlessly hacking away. And let’s not forget the voice acting—these characters are so well-performed that you’ll find yourself caring about them way more than your real friends.
But, of course, there’s an issue. For some reason, the game insists that your character can only climb very specific knee-high ledges, while other identical-looking ones are completely off-limits. Why? Is my hero selectively weak? Did they sign a contract saying they wouldn’t grab certain rocks? This nonsense is enough to make you momentarily question the game’s otherwise flawless design.
The story is gripping, full of twists and emotional gut punches. Every decision you make feels meaningful, shaping the world around you in surprising ways. There are moments of genuine beauty and heartbreak that few games manage to capture so effectively.
And yet, despite all of this brilliance, the game’s food system is utterly baffling. Why does eating a single loaf of bread instantly heal my mortal wounds? Who is baking this miraculous bread, and why are they not running the world? It’s a small issue in the grand scheme of things, but still, I demand answers.
Overall, Monkey Go! is a masterpiece. It’s a must-play for fans and a shining example of how to craft an unforgettable experience.
Score: 9.5/10 – Nearly Perfect, But I Have Questions.
